Bei diesem QuickTime Movie ist alles anders als man denkt. Es geht nicht etwa um ein alf-gleiches Wesen aus fragwürdigen Regionen des Alls, sondern um eine "gemorphte" Szenerie Basler Stadtzüge. Unter Morphing ist die berechnete Verzerrung von Bildpartien zu verstehen, die zu einer verstärkten Plastizität der Motive führt. Fluchten fliehen und Wände nahen, Dreidimensionalität lebt auf. Wird, wie im präsentierten Kunststück, alles Gesehene noch durch Töne geadelt, dann kann auf MTV-Empfang getrost verzichtet werden.

Verwendung fand dieser "Morph" in einem Lernprogramm der Swisscom, in dem Jugendlichen auf unterhaltsame Weise Grundlagen der Kommunkationtechnik nahegebracht wird.

Everything is different to what it seems with this QuickTime movie. It is not as one might expect about an Alf-like creature of questionable origin, but a "morphed" scenery consisting of Basel street-scenes. By "morphing" we understand the calculated distortion of parts of an image which leads to an increased plasticity of the motifs. Flights of stairs take to flight as walls threaten - three-dimensionality manifests. When, as in the art-work depicted vision is additionally plagued by sound, MTV-reception can happily be done without.

This "morph" was used in a Swisscom learning program in which young people were acquainted with the rudiments of communication technology in an entertaining manner.
